Product Related
How can I know more about my saree fabric?
Description of the fabric of the saree has been provided for every product separately. We put in a lot of effort in writing the product descriptions to give you the most accurate information about every product sold.
How do I know that the silk is pure?
It is extremely smooth to the touch, has a non-shiny effect (apart from it being a dhoop-chaav saree). The weight of the saree is extremely light despite of having complete weaving all over it.
How does the saree look in real?
Our entire collection is captured both in Outdoor (Sunlight) and Indoor conditions. There are no peculiar changes in sunlight but minor variations in indoor can be witnessed due to angle of photograph, composition of the fabric effects the colors as captured in the photographs and types of light. In case of any query feel free to contact us for additional photographs, or video call facility can also be provided.
Do you use real zari on your sarees?
The zari is not real but we use high quality zari which does not give an artificial shine.
How do I take care of my saree?
We recommend that you dry clean your saree only when necessary. It is advisable not to store the silk saree with other sarees. Precious sarees should be wrapped in a muslin or pure cotton cloth to maintain their longevity. The saree should be stored in a dry dark place where there’s no sunlight, air the textiles every few months. It should be folded with the zari inward to protect the beautiful shine of the saree.
Do the sarees come with blouse pieces?
Almost all sarees come with a running, separate or embroidered blouse piece. It will be mentioned clearly in the description. Please go through the description carefully for better understanding.
How do you assure quality?
Each product goes through various stages of scrutinization and quality check which leads to extremely less or rather no chances of defect.

I saw a product a couple of days ago, now I can’t find it. Can I still order it?
Since most of the products are woven, if you are unable to find that product it means it is unavailable at that moment. You can contact us and we will let you know about the possibilities.
I am buying multiple products. Can I get a discount?
If this is your second purchase with us, you can mail us at umaybenaras@umay.in and we would provide you with the discount coupon. You can redeem the coupon during the time of checkout.

Will there be any additional duty or taxes on my shipment?
You are not required to pay any kind of additional duty or taxes. In the exceptional circumstance if any duty or taxes are levied on your parcel, please contact us and we will help you resolve the matter.
Can I block a saree and pay later?
Generally most of the products are handwoven and each product takes at least a month to get ready, so it is not possible to block a saree.
Do you offer Cash on Delivery?
Yes, we do offer cash on delivery.

All our shipments are sent using reputed courier agencies.
What are the delivery charges for shipping?
We do not charge for shipping anywhere within India no matter how much you order for!
I missed my delivery. What happens now?
Don’t worry, any courier service agency makes at least three attempts to deliver, as a standard policy.

Returns or exchanges are only possible in exceptional circumstances.

If you want to cancel your order, you will receive a credit amount equivalent to the value of your order for any subsequent purchase on the website. If you wish to receive a refund instead, any bank processing charges will be borne by you and will be deducted from the total before the refund. You may cancel your order before it has been shipped, provided that no tassels and/or fall piko have been added on your request.

Are your products available in any retail stores?
It is only available on our store which is situated in Kolkata.
What are the dimensions of your sarees?
The standard dimensions of our sarees are:
Length: Between 5.4 mets and 5.6 mets (212 inches and 236 inches)
Width: Between 1.1 mets and 1.17 mets (44 inches to 46 inches)
Blouse piece: Between 0.8 mets and 1 met (31 inches and 39 inches)
These are just approximate figures so it may have minor variations. If you wish to know exact measurements do contact us.
Do you have a physical store?
We have an experiential store in Kolkata. All visits to the store are on an appointment basis only.
